Bob FM Timeline

March 4, 2002: CHUM Broadcasting's Howard Kroeger, after developing and testing his idea of a Variety Hits format, put Bob FM on 99.9 (CFWM-FM) in Winnipeg.

May 31, 2003: Debuted on 93.9 (CKKL) in Ottawa.

July 14, 2003: Debuted on 103.7 (CJPT) in Brockville, ON.

July 25, 2003: Debuted on 102.3 (CHST) in London, ON.

September 16, 2003: Debuted on 99.5 (KHUI) in Honolulu. This was the first Bob FM (of the Variety Hits genre) in the United States, contrary to many published reports.

November 3, 2003: Debuted on 96.9 (KQOB) in Oklahoma City. This was the first Bob FM station in the continental United States.

March 9, 2004: Debuted on 106.1 (WPYA) in Norfolk/Virginia Beach, VA.

March 14, 2004: Debuted on 105.5 (KEUG) in Eugene, OR.

June 22, 2004: Debuted on 96.7 (KNOB) in Santa Rosa, CA.

August 13, 2004: Salem Communications, which had recently acquired KHUI in Honolulu, dropped the Bob FM format on this day, replacing it with the Hawaiian music format which previously occupied the signal. This was the first Bob FM Variety Hits station to flip formats.

August 20, 2004: Debuted on 103.5 (KEYI-FM) in Austin, TX.

September 23, 2004: Debuted on 101.7 (KBYB) in Texarkana, TX. On the same day, thanks to immediate success in the market, Norfolk/Virginia Beach, VA's 106.1 Bob FM moved down the dial to the more powerful 93.7 signal, taking the WPYA call letters with it.

November 24, 2004: Debuted on 97.5 (KSZR) in Tucson.

December 21, 2004: Debuted on (KYWL) in Spokane.

March 15, 2005: Debuted on 92.1 (KBDB-FM) in Sacramento.

May 26, 2005: Debuted on 106.9 (KCTY-FM) in Omaha.

August 1, 2005: Removed from 92.1 (KBDB-FM) Sacramento after less than five months in the market. Its ownership, First Broadcasting, moved the Flash 80s format from 103.9 (KXCL), which it sold the week before, over to the 92.1 signal.

September 1, 2005: Debuted on 92.1 (KQEZ) in Anchorage, AK.

September 12, 2005: Debuted on 97.9 (WBBE) in Bloomington/Normal, IL.

September 15, 2005: Debuted on 95.7 (KNLT) in Walla Walla, WA.
